Unit 3 -  Oscillations

Unit 3 - Oscillations
Now that we have an Arudino setup with ultrasound, accelerometer, and bluetooth we can test it on a mass spring systems and study oscillations.

Physics Background

To review physics laws on mechanics, please check out  OpenStax texbook.
  • University Physics Volume 1
Here are important Chapters with respect to oscillations:
  • 5.1 Simple Harmonic Motion
  • 15.2 Energy in Simple Harmonic Motion

Pre-lab Week 5

  • Slides
    • Due 2 hours before the start of lab 3A

Lab 3A: Vertical Mass-Spring

In this lab, we explore a vertical mass-spring system. We will learn how to find the spring constant and collect both the ultrasound and accelerometer data for oscillations by using the Arduino as the mass in the mass-spring system.
