Learning outcomes
The Physics 4AL and 4BL classes have been designed with the following outcomes in mind:
- Learn lab skills for building physical experiments
- Learn basic computational techniques for recording real-world data
- Learn computational and statistical techniques for analyzing data
- Learn to communicate scientific results clearly in written and oral reports
- Learn to work effectively and harmoniously in a small scientific research team
- Deepen your understanding of selected physics concepts taught in Physics 1A and 1B
- Enhance your enjoyment of and appreciation for physics
Methods:
To achieve these outcomes, you will:
- Program and use an ESP 32 or Arduino microcontroller (in 4AL/4BL)
- Analyze data using Python programming, utilizing Jupyter Notebooks (in 4AL/4BL)
- Construct a digital oscilloscope (in 4BL)
- Investigate principles of mechanics, kinematics and oscillations (in 4AL)
- Investigate principles of electric circuits and electromagnetism (in 4BL)
