Unit 2 - Motion

Unit 2 - Motion

The purpose of these labs is to use the ESP32 ultrasound sensor setup to study constant velocity and constant acceleration. Later we will develop a compact ESP32 Box with distance and acceleration sensors, which can monitor its motion and wirelessly transmit the data that it collects in real time. Then we apply it to study various linear motion.

Pre-Lab Week 3

  • Pre-Lab Assignment:

    • Due before Lab 2A

Lab 2A: Linear motion on an air track

  • Reference Slides 2A

Lab 2B,C: Collisions, Conservation of Momentum and Energy

  • Reference slides 2B,C

Note slides for Lab 2B,C will carry on to the following week.

Post-Lab Week 3

  • Post-Lab Assignment:

    • Due at 11:59pm on Sunday week 3

Pre-Lab Week 4

In this pre-lab we will focusing on understanding and calibrating the accelerometer. Calibrating the accelerometer is more complicated compared to the distance (ultrasonic) sensor. The pre-lab will go over some basics and you will have to solve a few problems and submit the answers on Gradescope.
