Unit 2 - Motion (2B and 2C material and links under construction)
The purpose of these labs are to develop a compact Arduino Box with distance and acceleration sensors, which can monitor its motion and wirelessly transmit the data that it collects in real time. Then we apply it to study various linear motion.
- Lab 2A: Linear motion on an air track
- Lab 2B: Bluetooth Arduino with ultrasound/distance sensor
- Lab 2C: Bluetooth Arduino with 3-axis accelerometer
Pre-Lab 2A: Linear motion on an air track
In this pre-lab we will revise the concepts concerning motion of objects on inclined planes.

Lab 2A: Linear motion on an air track
Pre-Lab 2B: Bluetooth Arduino with ultrasound/distance sensor
In this pre-lab we will be preparing for soldering and setting up our Arduino to use a WiFi chip. You will be watching this video and describing the soldering process in your own words. Soldering can be very dangerous if safety precautions are not taken, so especially note . You will need the following to complete the pre-lab
Lab 2B Instructions: Bluetooth Arduino with ultrasound/distance sensor
Pre-Lab 2C: Bluetooth Arduino with 3-axis accelerometer
In this pre-lab we will gain a basic understanding of how the accelerometer works and learn about the calibration of the accelerometer. Fill out the following slides and upload them to GradeScope
Lab 2C Instructions: Bluetooth Arduino with 3-axis accelerometer
